Crossbars leave coolers, storage bins, and other bulky gear balancing on narrow support points during travel. This platform adds a large flat roof surface for cargo that doesn't sit well on traditional crossbars and mounts to raised side rails.
Crossbars leave odd cargo hanging on narrow contact points once coolers, luggage, or trail gear head up top. This Pioneer platform gives you a large, flat roof surface that measures 51" long x 56" wide, spreading cargo across a wider area for road trips, camping stops, and overlanding setups.
Added roof height matters when your rack sits above parking garages, branches, or loaded accessories. The platform measures 1-3/4" tall and includes a detachable wind fairing, reducing added height while cutting wind noise and drag on highway drives.
Extra rack layers and unsupported roof loads create movement once rooftop tents and gear go up top. RX300 legs mount to a Backbone system that spreads loads across reinforced roof mounting points, keeping your platform planted during long highway drives and off-road travel.
Roof loads change from trip to trip, and fixed baskets limit where accessories land. Integrated channels in the planks and frame accept Rhino-Rack accessories (sold separately), including awnings, light brackets, shovel holders, and spare tire carriers, keeping your setup open for different cargo jobs.
Loaded camping gear and trail cargo put your rack surface in regular contact with straps, brackets, and outdoor equipment. Powder coated aluminum frame construction with reinforced nylon connectors adds scuff resistance, keeping the platform working through loaded off-road trips.

The rack is very sturdy and easy to install,however the wind noise is loud. Hopefully adding the wind fairing will solve this issue

1. Definitely need to read the manual which was included in the packages and provided electronically by etrailer.
2. If you follow the manual, should be no problems, but pay attention to detail.
3. Budget 3 hours total duration at a casual install pace.
Quality built to tight tolerances. Easy to follow instructions with plenty of on-line videos to help with the installation. Don't hesitate to buy this better designed / better built / better looking roof rack.
Got this rack for my 4Runner because I knew I was going to be hauling stuff around heavier than the stock rack could handle. The Rhino rack was really easy to install and has paid for itself a number of times already. And it looks great.
The rack is top notch and sturdy. Perhaps just as important the customer service from etrailer is excellent. They answered all my questions and were very helpful.
Tough, easy to install, excellent platform for all my things (cargo box, two bikes for now) and flexibility for the future. Next up, KC Highlights mounted on the front. Well worth the money for fit and finish.
I almost never write reviews. However, I will make an exception this time. This is my third order with etrailer.com. The previous two were straight forward. This one was not. I was ordering a roof rack for my 200 series Land Cruiser. There were several concerns I had with it. Emily went to the manufacturer to sort out areas I was concerned about. She called me back within 30 minutes with accurate information. I would not have spent the $1,400 on the rack with out the specifics. It was nice not having to do all the research on my own, and getting significant help was a gift. Much appreciated! Hence the review.
The rhino rack pioneer setup with the backbone mount is a fantastic roof rack system.
Ordering super easy, shipping was very fast (doesn't happen so much during covid).
Wish you would sell the wider so that rack fit over sides of vehicle better.
Make certain to measure where the crossbars mount to the vehicle in millimeters. Being off by 1/8 inch on front bar means the back wont align at all. Other than that the instructions were perfect. There weren't any pictures nor much in the manuals about this alignment step (only the on line you tubes briefly touched on it).
I would buy one more long piece & 2 wider end pieces so that the entire rack fit OVER the sides of SUV, but could not get anyone to sell me that option.
Perfect. So many accessories and applications. Can customize things to fit. I think its the best choice. etrailer was amazing when I had some issues with shipping to Canada. Will purchase from etrailer again for sure!
Way more of a pain to install than I expected. Assembly of the platform was really easy. But putting on the rails was tricky given the space to screw in. And attaching the platform to the rails was a pain. However after installation, I love this rack. It whistles a bit but I don't have the wind break. It's great for hauling but I appreciate more a place to just chill and enjoy the scenery when I stop in the wilderness. I bought this specifically to install a Bundutop tent. Haven't got it yet but this platform will be perfect for it.
